The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Saturday, March 2, in areas below 6000 feet in several Fire Zones, including 238 which covers Fort Collins. Rist Canyon is in zone 215, so this warning does not apply to us directly, but it serves as a reminder that we are entering into Wildland Fire season, and awareness of the weather around us is important to prevent accidental ignitions. Even if we don't have a Red Flag Warning, the low relative humidity, high winds, and warm weather combine to increase risk of ignition and spread from seemingly simple things like uncontained sparks and hot exhaust systems.
Please be careful around your properties this weekend, and as always, call 911 immediately if you see flames.
