The Rist Canyon Mountain Festival and Fundraiser for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department (RCVFD) is looking for people to help with the set up, breakdown, and manning of various tents and activities before, during and after the festival. Your help supports your community and your firefighters!

Most volunteer times are set in one hour increments and you are welcome (and encouraged) to sign up for as many as you like. If you have any problems with signing up or would like us to add your name to the list please contact Trisha Johnston 970-294-2228 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Because our volunteers are such an important part of the festival running smoothly, we ask that you let us know by September 1st.

We appreciate any help! Please feel free to pass on this message to your friends and family.

Thank you,
Friends of the Festival

Bad News Bear

A neighbor had a bear break in. Broke a window in a door then proceeded to ransack the kitchen (see pic - looks like he cut himself pretty badly). This was on top of Ford Hill off County Road 41. Be vigilant about not leaving anything (like dog food) out that might attract them. Although that didn't seem to be the motivator in this attack.

Thanks & Adios, CJD

Dog Found

At around 7pm on 8/8/18, I found a dog on Buckhorn Rd towards Masonville. He's got a collar and tags but I'm unable to get an answer when calling the number on his tag. The gate to the drive for the address on his tags is closed. The address is 18000 Buckhorn Rd. Please call if you know the owner of this very nice male dog. I do have him in a run but with the dogs my roommate and I already have it would be wonderful to get him back to his home.

Goose on the Loose in Stratton Park

A large, very friendly domestic goose mysteriously arrived at our home 3 days ago (Stratton Park). It is obviously someone's pet as it is not afraid of humans (or other pets). It cannot fly, which adds more to the mystery of its arrival. Please call if your goose is missing.

The retaining wall at Station 1 needs another row of bricks (dirt is washing over the top). We have bricks ordered and could use help stacking them on Saturday, July 21st at 8:00AM. We are planning an early start to get it done before it gets too hot. Bricks are dry stacked, so no masonry skills required (Eric will be there with his masonry saw when we need to cut them). Please come and help even if just for a little while. It will be a quick job if we have a good turnout.

Thanks & Adios, CJD

Found 2 mules

2 mules, one white, one brown showed up this morning. End of FR1A, south end of Davis Ranch. They most likely came from Redstone Canyon, so if anyone has contacts over there.. Mike 9704812889

Fire Ban in Effect

Larimer County has implemented Stage 1 Fire restrictions throughout Larimer County as of noon on July 3rd. These restrictions are set to expire on August 3rd unless conditions change.

This means there are now restrictions on open fires and fireworks.

If you have questions, check out the full resolution at the Larimer County Website.

Please be diligent about controlling sources of ignition - although we have had some rain, not every area has gotten significant moisture.

Thanks & Adios, CJD
