Mark McCracken

My dog ran away while visiting my friend just SW of the Buckhorn/Stove Prairie cut-off. She's very sweet and timid, and will typically be phobic towards males. She's been out in the cold since 17 March, and I'd appreciate any information, as well as reward her return. She was seen running in the area multiple times, but hasn't responded to calls, and continues to evade. She's likely frantically trying to find me, but lost and scared. She loves fetch, so that might be a way to gain trust! TYVM for your care.

Found Dog

We received the following post to our Facebook page from Cody Stephenson:

Does anybody recognize this dog? We found it running down the backside of Rist canyon towards Stove Prairie and it wasn't trying very hard to stay out of the way of cars. Red collar, no tags. We took it home and will probably be holding on to it overnight until the Larimer Humane Society office opens tomorrow so we can drop it off and they can check for chips and reports. In the meantime, if this yours or somebody you know feel free to give me a call 970-749-4359. Sorry if this isn't the best place to post this, it was the only community page for that area I could think of, and I'm open to suggestions for other pages/groups.

For more information, and a picture of the dog, see Cody's Facebook Post.

Found Dog

We’ve been trying to catch this guy for a couple of days now, and this is as close as we can get. He’s hanging around the house. Does anyone know who he belongs to?

Icy Conditions on Rist Canyon Road

We have had several reports of the treacherous conditions of Rist Canyon Road in front of "the Ice House" just below Davis Ranch. Since the repaving project this summer, the sun melts snow and ice, allowing it to flow onto and across Rist Canyon Road at this location. Overnight, that moisture freezes into black ice and slush at the beginning of the curve as you drive downhill.

The county has been notified, and they have promised to look into solutions. But in the meantime, the only way to safely navigate this stretch is to slow down to below 20 mph. Please drive carefully!
