Structure Fire Emergency Preparedness
Each year we get called on a few chimney fires. Other recent causes of house fires range from mice eating electrical wires to flammable materials which have ignited near the house.

Welcome to Wildland Fire with RCVFD

Background

While most of our calls during the year are medical, RCVFD exists as an initial attack module for wildfires.  During the wildfire season RCVFD may be asked to participate in mutual aid and may be engaged in wildland fire for many day should it be within our fire protection district.

For these reasons we expect most new recruits to work towards their getting their initial wildland qualifications so they can participate safely in the wildland fire environment.  Collectively this training results in a nationally recognized Firefighter 2 qualification

Overview
The S-130/190 Basic Firefighter class is a 40-hour, entry-level course that provides the basic knowledge and structure of the wildland firefighting system.  These classes plus a field day, pack test and practice shelter deployment are the prerequisites for you to get your red card/Firefighter 2
The class includes :
Two online Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training courses –

They originated as CD-based training, so you can either download the ISO files and create CDs from them for an "authentic" experience, or you can download ZIP archives that contain the same files but in normal directory structure format. The links below will take you directly into a file-download.
These will take some time
S-130 is the largest one

Step 5
