Here is your chance to BE Smokey Bear! Teach a kid how to rope a steer! Like rock climbing? The mountain festival committee is looking for some volunteers this Sunday to work shifts at 3 stations. You could wear the Smokey Bear costume, keep the kids in line at the steer roping station, or help kids into their climbing harness at the rock wall. If you have not figured out a way to contribute to the festival, please consider donating an hour. No experience necessary! Please don't think "somebody else will do it." They might not. We need YOU to step up. Invite your friend to do the shift with you!

Please contact Vicky Jordan at 970-482-8743 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you can help out on Sunday, September 4 between 10:00-4:00.

Thanks for supporting RCVFD!

Inji is missing!

Inji is a 15 pound ginger color dog missing since Saturday from the back of Stratton Park Rd. She was last seen near Mountain Meadow Road on Rist Canyon Rd. If you see her please call Bob Anderson at 970.407.0805. She has out-of-state tags. She's very sweet, but probably hungry as she is typically an indoor city dog.

Reminder: May 7th Open Firehouse

The RCVFD community and its supporters are invited to an Open Firehouse from 10 am - 2 pm on Saturday, May 7 -- National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day. Come meet the RCVFD firefighters who are your on-call volunteers 24/7. The Open Firehouse will focus on wildfire awareness and prevention as a community responsibility. Along with refreshments and music, plans for the Open Firehouse include a visit from Smokey Bear, a display of wildfire equipment, and a demonstration garden of fire-resistant plants. As parking is limited to the sides of busy Rist Canyon Road, carpooling is encouraged.
